How melanin effect our skin colour?

Melanin is the complex polymer pigment which derived from amino acid tyrosine and on the basis of it is amount the skin decides the coloration or texture of skin. Melanin is produced by specialized cells present in the skin, which are known as melanocytes that are present on the upper layer of skin (epidermis). Melanin is produced by the oxidation of amino acid tyrosine after which these molecules polymerize to form polymer chains. When melanin is produced then it spread simultaneously to the nearby skin cells. The amount of melanin decides the texture or tone of the human skin and if overproduction of melanin on skin surface occurs it produces a tan over the skin. There are certain factors which cause the hyperpigmentation of melanocytes or production of melanin, such as

v  Overexposure of sun
v  Genetically or hereditary
v  Hormonal changes
v  Free radicals
v  Skin injuries or increase growth of bacteria’s
v  Picking the skin
