What is Boils?



Boils are skin infections which are occur at hair follicle or oil glands. Boils are deep infection in the skin. Starting symptoms of boil are redness and tenderness on the affected area. With time, this tender and red area become hard and firm. Then the center of boil becomes soft and filled with pus (infection fighting white blood cells, bacteria or protein combination). Pus forms a head which can be surgically open or drained out through the surface of skin.

  Which areas are affected by boils?

 It can be formed over neck, armpits, shoulders, buttocks and eye. When it is on eye then it is called sty.

  What are the causes of Boils?

Usually, Boils are caused due to bacteria called staphylococcus (Staph). Most of the boils are start with redness and become severe quickly. The germs are present on skin and enter into the skin through cuts or travelling down through follicles. Boils are caused due to foreign material or improper growth of hair follicles.
